Abstract: Thirty household ecosystems in cool irrigation area of Hexi were classified into uhree types by cluster analysis，that are livestock rising+planting type．planting+livestock rising type and sole panting type.The economic，social, ecological and comprehensive benefits of the 3 types were analysed．According to benefit index live stock rising+planting type had the highest benefits．planting+livestock rising followed as the next，sole planting type had the lowest benefits．The energy and material conversion rate as well as soil nutrient contents showed that increasing the input in animal husbandry can improve output and benefits of agroecosystem.
