Ecological footprint for sustainable development of Chongqing City

Based on demand and supply balance analysis,an ecological footprint(EF) model of Chongqing City was established.The results show per capita EF deficit to be 1.2806 hm² in 2004,meaning that eco-economic system demand from human activities exceeds the region's natural system supply limit.The structure and function of the regional eco-economic system needs urgent readjustment as it already proves to be strongly asymmetric.Human consumption exhibits a simplex trend in ecological space.There is an intensification of relationship between the human element and the land element of the ecosystem.
